Well…since you are on our website chances are you already know the city…. Anyway, Tavira is a delightful Portuguese town, that is situated close to a coastline of beautiful beaches. Tavira and the eastern Algarve makes for a calm and relaxed holiday destination, but the region still offers a wide variety of enjoyable activities and exciting day trips. Tavira has a charming historic centre, which is a joy to explore and discover the rich history of the town.

Mercado de Tavira

Every morning a lively market is held in the Mercado Municipal, with stalls selling fish, fresh produce and local handicraft. Make sure you pay them a visit! This is a great location to experience typical Portuguese daily life, and also to find a bargain gift or simply to fill your fridge with fresh products.

Our beloved Roman Bridge

Also, make sure you take a picture from the Roman bridge! This ancient bridge is a key iconic landmark joining the old city with the early suburbs and a must during hot summer evenings. Often there are street performers. Very romantic at sundown. Good for people-watching. There is a myth about the bridge and why on one side the river has one name and on the other a different name. Find out why by asking around.

Choosing a new home downtown can be the perfect spot for the ones that rather walk!  You can shop for almost everything in the city centre, except for some things you can only buy at the bigger supermarkets. It is also the perfect choice for the ones who love being near cultural and community attractions. Summer can be pretty intense of tourists and things to do. Should be your choice if you enjoy living in an area where neighbour interactions come regularly and naturally with a wide array of people, making us feel we are part of a small community. Cons: most townhouses do not have a private yard or a garden. So you better learn how to make the best from your balcony…

One of the most beautiful cities in Algarve, Tavira is a seaside getaway. The town has kept hold of its old and traditional character while taking tourism in its stride. The mix of traditional Portuguese architecture with Moorish influences shows throughout its roman bridge, Moorish castle, historical buildings, stunning churches framing delightful plazas and white cobbled streets. Evenings in Tavira are best spent at an outdoor restaurant in the charming historical centre where you can enjoy some exquisite freshly caught fish and seafood, accompanied by a bottle of locally produced wine.

The city is on the banks of the Gilão River that flows to the Atlantic through Ria Formosa Natural Park, which sprawls over 170sq kilometres of water channels, islands, and endless beaches, that holds a unique ecosystem and biodiversity. Tavira’s relaxing and unspoiled atmosphere makes it an excellent location for anyone looking for a peaceful place to live or the perfect destination for a holiday in the sun. You can also enjoy the picturesque old towns of Santa Luzia e Cabanas, both sitting right in front of the Ria Formosa. For those who are more active, there are excellent golf courses, numerous cycle paths, long walking trails and waters waiting to be discovered by kayak. From Faro, at just 30-minute drive, in the west to the Spanish border in the east. Whether you’re looking to live here along the coast or more inland, I can help you find your dream home. Just let me know more details about your dream home.

There is noticeably a package to find out about this. Tavira is such an amazing city! I think you made certain wonderful factors in features also. So tired of the old fashion way most agents I find here work: listing after listing or flattering themselves. Thank you for putting an effort into building this website. Noella Markus
